Betty Joe (Bilbrey) Pitts

January 22, 1937 — June 24, 2019

Mountain Home

Betty Joe Hurt was born January 22, 1937 to Daniel and Marie (Bryson) Hurt in Shannon County and passed away June 24, 2019 at approximately 12:35 AM at her home in Mountain Home, AR at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 2 days.

Betty was united in marriage to Dorvan Ray Bilbrey on November 13, 1954, and he preceded her in death on December 4, 2007. To this union two children were born, Debra Jean and Teresa Ann.

After raising her children, Betty decided she wanted a new career. In 1991 Betty started nursing school, and at the age of 55, she became an LPN which sparked a love of nursing in this family for generations!

On June 12, 2014, this family was given one of it’s greatest blessings when Betty married John Pitts, who has loved and taken wonderful care of her through this entire journey without fail or complaint.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Daniel and Marie Hurt; husband, Dorvan Bilbrey and brother Jack Hurt and his wife Doris.

She is survived by her husband, John Pitts, and faithful dog Chris of the family home; daughters, Debra Lawson and husband Thomas of Gainesville, MO, Teresa Douglas and husband Terry of Spokane, WA; grandchildren, David Tharp, Shelley Still (Eddie), Jared Douglas (Tiffany), Elizabeth Baker (Andy), Amy Owen(Matt) and Haley Hunt (Chris); great-grandchildren, Calli Cox (Marcus), Alexis Sisney(Will), Teighlyr Douglas, Caitlyn Still, Gunner Douglas, Amara Baker, Micah Owens, Liam Owens, Benjamin Hunt and Annabelle Hunt; and great-great-grandchildren, Codey Cox and Thaddius Cox.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Hospice of the Ozarks, Mountain Home, AR and may be left at the funeral home.
