Betty Fern (Holden) Young, daughter of Frank Lynn Holden and Bessie Hannah (Brackett) Holden, was born March 11, 1944 in Bucyrus, Missouri, and passed away at her home on November 7, 2025, at the age of 81 years.

Betty attended school in Houston, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Leo Young, and to this union three children were born: Robin, Regina, and Rose Anna.

Betty attended Success Baptist Church, where she enjoyed worship and fellowship for many years.

She loved quilting, reading books of all kinds, and spending time with her family. Betty especially enjoyed taking her grandkids to country dances, rodeos in Licking, and to the river in the summertime. She enjoyed circle-a-word books, soap operas, Stephen King novels, and putting puzzles together. Some of her favorite collections were horses, strawberries, pictures, and newspapers. She also had a large Christmas village collection that she looked forward to displaying every year.

Betty was known for always having a smile on her face and a welcoming spirit in everything she did. She never met a stranger. She was kind, unselfish, and always thinking of others. Above all, she loved the Lord.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo Young; her son, Robin Young; grandson, Justin Breedlove; two infant grandchildren who were born into the arms of Jesus; brothers, Lawrence Holden and Billy Holden; and sisters, Pauline Reed, Vina Blankenship, Mattie Campbell, and Iva Turner.

Surviving are her daughters, Regina Breedlove (Roger) and Rose Anna Michael (Robert); grandchildren, Joshua Breedlove, Taylor Smith (Tyler), Jacob Michael Mercer, Jamie Johnston (Sean), and Kyle Michael (Alex); and great-grandchildren, Alisyn Smith and Atlas Smith as well as many nieces and nephews.

Betty lived a life filled with love, laughter, and generosity. Her greatest joy was her family, and she poured her heart into making memories with them. Whether she was quilting, sharing a good book, or taking the kids on adventures, she found happiness in the simple things. Her legacy of kindness, faith, and joy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
