Calvin was a long time faithful member of the Eminence First Assembly of God Church, where he enjoyed worshiping the Lord, good fellowship services with his church family, and playing the guitar, including some intense jam sessions with Brother Jones. Calvin loved his large family and loved getting together and telling stories. He thoroughly enjoyed Christmas Eve at the lodge with the Crider family, joking, playing music, and seeing all the Crider kids big or small. Calvin loved children, he was known as Poppy to his grandchildren and to the many kids that Jean kept over the years. Calvin loved going to spend time with Craig and kids in Kansas, and going to Cabelas was always a highlight of the trip. Calvin loved spending time at the river, fishing trips with Vester and kids, and pontoon boat outings on the lake. Calvin and Jean loved camping when the boys were little and when the grandchildren came along.
Calvin was a hard worker, whether it was trucks or heavy equipment, he worked all his life, right up to his last day. He worked many jobs, several years at Angelica, years driving a dump truck then later hauled lime & fertilizer. For the last 11 years, he owned a rock quarry with his son Vester in Thayer, MO. These last several years at the quarry he spent lots of time with family and friends. He and Jean stayed late many Fridays nights to attend the auction in Mammoth Springs.
Calvin and Jean were inseparable, and were constantly on the go but still made time to sit on their front porch drinking coffee together. Riding the mule, attending bluegrass festivals and taking their great grandchildren to church and the Spring Dipper are just some of the many memories they shared. They even enjoyed simple tasks such as cutting wood and tending to the chickens, as long as they were together. Calvin and Jean made friends wherever they went; he never met a stranger. He enjoyed life to the fullest! He will be missed by many, far and wide.
