Carl Ray Honeycutt was born to Margie Viola Trimble and Samuel Augustus Honeycutt on December 6, 1933, in Thayer, Missouri. He passed away after a short illness at Springfield Mercy Hospital on December 17, 2025. He was the youngest of four children and he grew up in Mansfield, MO where he graduated from high school. Carl married Marilyn Spears in 1952, and they had two children, Joe Carl Honeycutt and Lisa Carol Honeycutt Jones. Marilyn passed away in May 1992, and Carl married Kay Marsh Brashear in October 1994. Kay has two children, Roger and Ross Brashear.

Carl loved being with his brothers and sister and Marilyn’s five brothers and sisters. Carl’s mother was one of 20 children, and Carl faithfully attended the yearly Trimble reunion in Thayer. He attended the 100th Trimble reunion in 2025.

Carl worked at his dad’s car dealership in Mansfield prior to purchasing the Chevrolet Oldsmobile dealership in Houston in 1965. Except for a winter spent in Tucson, Arizona, due to the health of his son, Joe, Carl was a lifelong Missouri resident and car dealer. Carl was a licensed private pilot and owned a Cessna for most of his adult life. He was active in several community organizations and was a Houston city council member for many years. Carl was instrumental in coordinating the donation of two new Chevrolet vehicles to the past Houston automotive program

Carl enjoyed being outdoors and he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Carl enjoyed floating the local rivers, camping with friends and skiing the lakes. Carl and Marilyn loved to travel and were fortunate to visit Spain, Italy, France, and Puerto Rico. Carl made several fishing trips to Canada with Marilyn and with Joe. Carl and Marilyn loved to visit Biloxi, Mississippi and always returned with several pounds of shrimp that they shared at family shrimp boils.

Carl is survived by his wife Kay Honeycutt, son, Joe Honeycutt and wife Christine of Houston and daughter Lisa Jones and husband Ross of Republic, MO. Grandchildren, Gretchen Floyd and husband Jamie, B. J. Honeycutt and wife Ashley all of Houston, Carrie Waggoner and husband Mike of Springfield and Kelsey Jones of Saint Louis, MO. Great-grandchildren, Carmen, Colin, Emily, Kaelyn, Chase, Hannah, Gwendolyn, and Felix. Carl was also fortunate to live to see and enjoy many great-great grandchildren. Survivors also include several nieces and nephews, cousins and other family and friends. Carl is also survived by Kay’s sons, Ross Brashear and wife Kim and their two daughters of Charlotte, NC and Roger Brashear and wife Chrissy and their son and daughter of Valentine, NE. Kay’s sister Carolyn Meadows and husband Dean and their three children.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Marilyn’s parents, sisters and brothers, several nieces and nephews and many Trimble cousins, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be at Houston First Baptist Church, 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2025 with Pastor Trevor Sudheimer officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Houston School District Automotive Technologies Program or Houston First Baptist Church. Interment will be at Pine Lawn Cemetery and services are under the care of Bradford Funeral Home.
