Charles (Bill) William Alton

Summersville

Charles William (Bill) Alton the son of Jefferson James Alton and Clara Ester Ballard was born March 22, 1928 in Carlisle, Iowa. Bill entered into his Heavenly home on Thursday morning, March 8, 2018 while a patient at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri making his age 89 years 11 months and 14 days.

Bill was united marriage to Mary Elizabeth Gray on February 1955. He was blessed with 6 children, Donald, William, Carla, Michael, Melissa and Charles. In his later years he married Evelyn (Sykes) Richards.

He served in the United States Army in World War II from 1946 to 1947.

Bill worked for many years at TXI in Texas driving a truck for the Quarry.

He attended Praise Assembly Church in Summersville for several years. He was a devoted Bluegrass fan. He and Evelyn attended many Bluegrass festivals. He enjoyed gospel music and reading.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother Jeff and Clara Alton, wife Mary Elizabeth, son Donald Alton, sister Luella Piland, brother James Alton, granddaughters, Destiny Ragsdale and Rayla Choate.

Bill is survived by his wife Evelyn Alton, children Willy Alton and wife Doris, Carla Burks and husband Billy, Michael Alton and wife Deana, Melissa Holder and husband Derek and Chuck Goodrick. He is also survived by step-daughter Lisa Richards, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
