Clay Hubert Gruben

Clay Hubert Gruben the son of Charles A. Gruben and Rosie Pearl (Spencer) Gruben was born October 8, 1938 in Hartshorn, Missouri. He entered into his heavenly home Friday evening, November 10, 2017 at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri making his age 79 years 1 month and 2 days.

Clay was united in marriage to Phyllis Kay Haley on April 12, 1996 making their union together 21 years. He was blessed with two children, Sherry Lynn and Bryan C.

He attended and graduated from Summersville Schools. He was a member of Smith Chapel Church in West Plains, Missouri. He was a member of the Summersville Masonic Lodge #555 in Summerville for over 50 years. He was a member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine in Springfield, Missouri.

Clay was a life long cattle buyer, trader for many years. He ran a stock cattle operation for most of his life. He also sold TCI Minerals, Fertilizer, and Lime and made many friends thorough out the years.

He won many farming awards during his farming years. Clay enjoyed meeting his friends for morning coffee and telling old stories to everyone who would listen. He loved driving the farm on his golf cart and checking his deer cameras, fishing as often as possible and working with Bryan on the farm as well. He will be missed by many.

Clay is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Pearl Gruben, his daughter Sherry Smith, son-in-law Darrell Smith, two brothers Leo Gruben and an infant brother.

Clay is survived by his wife Phyllis Gruben of the home in West Plains, Missouri, son Bryan Gruben and wife Shawna of Fordland, Missouri, 4 grandchildren, Jessi Daniels and husband John of Summersville, Missouri, Bailey Gruben of Kansas City, Missouri, Brayden Gruben of Fordland, Missouri, Kyndal Gruben of Fordland, Missouri, 2 great grand-daughters Darra and Dava Daniels both of Summersville, Missouri. Clay is also survived by many friends.
