David R. Stoops, the son of Elgin & Mabel (Garner) Stoops, was born September 20 th , 1930 at Summersville, Missouri and passed away surrounded by his family at Mtn. View Healthcare, Mtn. View, Missouri on Saturday, January 5 th , 2019, making his age 88 years 3 months and 16 days.
David was united in marriage to Glenda (Lowell) October 12 th , 1984. He welcomed two children from Glenda’s prior marriage, Marilyn Kaye (Lowell) Steelman and Darryl Clyde Lowell.
Dave was saved at an early age, and attended Midvale Pentecostal Holiness Church, then later Hartshorn Assembly of God Church. He and Glenda loved spending time with former Pastors Emmett & Beth Bradford and close friends Calvin & Waneta Cooper.
David was a logger. He spent most of his life cutting logs for a living. He also loved woodworking. He made cabinets and numerous items which were enjoyed by many. He loved the outdoors. Deer and turkey hunting were a favorite past time, but his fondest memories he shared with his family were the times he spent fishing on Big Creek with his dad Elgin.
Preceding Dave in death are his mother and father Elgin & Mabel Stoops; his wife Glenda Stoops; brother Andy Stoops; sister Eileen Powell and brother Ervin Stoops.
Surviving are his daughter Marilyn (Gary) Steelman of Hartshorn; son Darryl (Brenda) Lowell of Summersville; Grandchildren Jason (Wytney) Steelman; Brenda (Cory) Brawley and Clint Smotherman. Great grandchildren Jake & Jase Smotherman, Evy & Eli Steelman and Daniel & Hannah Brawley. Also surviving are David’s sister-in-law Josephine Stoops and brother-in-law Wayne Powell.
Dave spent many hours with a special niece, Pam Bristow, who gave so much of her time helping care for him.
Dave also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, family and friends who will miss him dearly.
