Doyle Dee Elijah

October 1, 1940 — February 26, 2023

Willow Springs

Doyle Dee Elijah was born October 1, 1940 at Rensselaer, Indiana to Kinder A. and Maude (Sowers) Elijah.  He passed away at Willow Care Nursing Home on February 26, 2023 at the age of 82.

He was united in marriage to Linda (Hawn) Elijah and from their union 3 children were born: Richard, Deanna and Robert.

Doyle graduated from Brook High School with the class of 1958 and was a 10-year member of both 4-H and FFA growing up.  He moved his family to Missouri in August of 1979.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in both Indiana and Missouri.  Doyle attended the United Methodist Church in Norwood, Missouri.

He drove a bus for Norwood Schools for several years, but he spent his whole life as a farmer.  He loved raising livestock and passed that love along to several of his family members.  He was an avid supporter of both 4-H and FFA.  He was also active in Young Farmers Associations in Indiana and Missouri, serving as President of the South Newton Young Farmers Association as well as being State Treasurer.  He was also a huge Chicago Cubs fan and loved his “Pepsi”!

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, Kinder A. and Maude E. Elijah and a great-grandson, Richard Elijah Brotherton.

He is survived by a brother, Dwight Dean (Katie) Elijah; son, Richard A. Elijah and wife Mary; daughter, Deanna Elijah-Atteberry and husband Jeff; son, Robert A. Elijah and wife Heather; grandson, Richard A. Elijah II and wife Holly; granddaughters, Rachel L. Brotherton and husband Donnie, Mindi Gaines and husband Jesse; grandsons, Blake R. Collins, Keith Allen, James D. Elijah and Tristan Elijah; 7 great-grandchildren as well as multiple nieces and nephews.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
