Erwin Wayne Rice

Erwin Wayne Rice was born March 30, 1940 to Frederick Vernon Rice and Elmae Martha (Ploger) Rice at Liberal, Kansas. Erwin left his earthly home and entered his Heavenly home Sunday evening, September 10, 2017 at Mercy St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View, Missouri making his age 77 years.

Erwin was united in marriage to Karlene Kay Starnes, March 8, 1964, making their union together 53 years. They were blessed with 4 children, Roger Wayne, Daena Marie, Paula Karlene, and Arlo Eugene. Erwin attended South Western Bible College in Oklahoma where he met his wife Kay. May 21, 1965 their first child Roger Wayne was born, then the family moved to Texas where their second child Daena Marie was born. After a while the

family moved to Kansas where two more children were born, Paula Karlene and Arlo Eugene.

Erwin held many jobs during his working career, but he owned his own business tuning piano’s and was quite successful as a piano technician. He worked as a piano technician until his failing health forced his retirement.

He loved to work on model cars, and enjoyed music. In his younger years he enjoyed hiking. He was saved at a young age and served the Lord faithfully the rest of his life.

Preceding Erwin in death are his parents, Frederick and Elmae Rice, his father and mother-in-law Samuel and Clyola Starnes.

He is survived by his beloved wife Karlene (Kay) Rice, of Mountain View, Missouri, his children Roger Rice of Mountain View, Missouri, Daena Koehn and husband Terry of Elk City, Oklahoma, Paula Dodge of Goodland, Kansas, Arlo Rice and wife Jami of Denver, Colorado, four grandchildren, Brendin Koehn, Ashley Koehn, Emanuelle Dodge, and Crystal Rice. Erwin is also survived by one brother Richard Rice and wife Connie of Kinsley, Kansas.
