Evelyn Wanda Proffitt

Evelyn Wanda (Lewis) Proffitt was born October 4, 1919 to A.D. and Julia (Vance) Lewis of Timber Missouri. Evelyn went home to be with the Lord on Friday evening, November 23, 2018 at Woodland Hills Nursing Home in Jacksonville, Arkansas making her age 99 years 1 months and 19 days.

She was the youngest girl of nine children and attended school in Eminence, Missouri.

She married Alvin Proffitt on April 4, 1940. They enjoyed 34 years of marriage before Alvin passed away in 1974. They were blessed with six children: Myrna Jean, Marion Kay, Alvin Jr., Tommy, Ray and Dennis.

She and Alvin lived in Summersville for many years. She worked at Angelica Uniform Company for over 28 years. They attended Summersville First Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband Alvin, daughter Myrna Jean Gordon, and son Dennis Ray Proffitt, daughter-in-law Linda, grandson Joshua Ray Proffitt

Evelyn is survived by her children, Marion Kay Ross of Browns Valley, California, Alvin Proffitt Jr. of Crystal, Missouri, Tommy Proffitt of Ferryville, Wisconsin, Ray Proffitt of Jacksonville, Arkansas, her ten grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
