George Lewis Lockwood

George Lewis Lockwood was born July 22, 1947 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri to Delbert and Anna (Crawford) Lockwood.  He passed away January 25, 2025 at NHC Healthcare in West Plains Missouri at the age of 77.

He was united in marriage to Brenda Folkes on May 16, 1970 and to their union 3 children were born, Jarrod, Justin and Samantha.

George grew up in Excelsior Springs, Missouri.  He joined the US Army in 1966 serving in Vietnam in the A Company, 1st Battallion 8th Calvary Division where he attained the rank of Sgt.  He was honorably discharged in 1968 after his faithful tour of duty.  George then moved to California in 1969 and went to work at Harvey Lyman.  He spent 35 years there until his retirement.  He and Brenda made Summersville their home in 2006.

George joined Summersville VFW Post 7222 in 2006 and served in various positions at there.  The VFW members were like his second family.

George enjoyed music and fishing.  He loved dancing with his daughter, Samantha.  He also enjoyed singing and playing pool with his military brothers in arms.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Anna Lockwood and his siblings, Nancy, Daniel, Moya, Eddie and Anthony.

George is survived by his wife Brenda; his children, Jarrod Lockwood (Chrissy), Justin Lockwood and Samantha Zamerippa; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandson as well as his VFW family and friends.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
