Harold Dean “Grady” German, the son of Norman Alvis and Mildred Ruth (Renfrow) German was born November 25, 1946 at Springfield, Missouri. He passed away March 19, 2021 at his home, where he wanted to be, with his wife and family at the age of 74.
He was united in marriage to Wanda Delora Young on May 25, 2000. He was blessed with 3 sons, Lennis Dean, Kevin Wane and Jimmy Dean. When he and Wanda were married he also gained 2 step daughters, Michelle Delora Terrill and Joyce Marie Coffelt and a step son, Michael Gentry Terrill.
Harold accepted the Lord as his Savior many years ago and was saved and baptized by Brother Emmett Bradford.
Grady proudly served his country for 10 years in the United States Army. He was drafted during the Vietnam War and entered the service on June 12, 1967. He attained the rank of Specialist 4 and served with the 2 nd Battalion, 3 rd Infantry of the 199 th Light Infantry Brigade. For three months in Vietnam he was assigned to the C Company as a Tunnel Rat and later transferred to the E Company on the Scout Patrol. He later was assigned to the 48 th Infantry Division on the Scout Patrol in Germany. During his service he received the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Humanitarian Service Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Service Medal with 5 service stars.
He loved spending time barbecuing with his family and friends. He also had a passion for growing plants and flowers. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing and walking in the woods or just relaxing on the porch. He also liked traveling, eating out, shopping (or browsing as he called it) and strolling through the cobble stone street of the Branson Landing with his wife Wanda.
Grady was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Alvis and Mildred Ruth German; father-in-law, Lawrence Young; mother-in-law, Ersell Young; grandparents, Ralph and Emma Starnes Renfrow and Albert and Lauri German.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Wanda of the home; a brother, Wayne German and wife Tina of Florence, AL; an aunt, Wilma Wilcox of Arnold, MO; sons, Lennis German of Moscow Mills, MO, Kevin German and wife Amanda of Summersville, MO and Jimmy German and fiancé Alexis Sapaugh of Summersville, MO; stepdaughters, Michelle Terrill of Hartshorn, MO and Joyce Coffelt and husband Chad of Forsyth, MO; stepson, Michael Terrill of Springfield, MO; a niece, Michelle German; 13 grandchildren, Chrystal, Miranda, Chase, Emma, Kadin, Jaiden, Isaac, Hattie, Chad, Candis, Coye, Jace and Katrina as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Lakiera, Adeline and Marleen. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
