James Douglas Atchison, the son of Henry Adam and Flora Madeline (White) Atchison, was born in Overland, MO and passed at Evelyn’s House, a BJC hospice facility in Creve Coeur, MO on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at the age of 74.
Jim accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of the Penecostal Faith.
James, known to some as Jim, Jimmy or J.D., was raised in the Eminence, MO area. After graduating from Eminence High School, Jim moved to Maryland Heights, MO. He lived and worked in the St. Louis area for many years, returning to live on his farm in Shannon Co. for several years to recover from his liver transplant in 1988. Due to health issues, Jim returned to the St. Louis area and spent the majority of his remaining years in Wildwood, Missouri.
Jim worked at McDonnell Douglas (Boeing), as District Mgr. for Majik Market, Mgr. at Express Markets, owned an IGA grocery store in Summersville, MO and later returned to Express Markets.
Jim had an avid passion for music, reading, cooking, crocheting (designing his own patterns) and chickens.
Jim is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents William R. and Anne (Conley) Atchison, his maternal grandparents Charles D. and Normor A. (Conley) White, his parents Henry A. and Flora M. (White) Atchison, his brothers Charles D. Atchison and Thomas L. Atchison and his sister Judith A. Atchison; Sisters-in-Law Betty (Spangler) Atchison and Carol (Scott) Atchison.
Surviving are his beloved companion of 42 years, William C. Petty II, son William R. Atchison, daughter-in-law Emmile Atchison, daughter Candy L. Aldridge; Grandchildren: James D. Atchison, Rachel E. McDonald, William R. (wife) Christine Atchison, Drake L. (wife) Katherine Harris, Mara E. (husband) Brandon Bohot, Andrew J. (wife) Adeline Harris, Sarah L. Harris (fiance’) Joseph and Zachary S. Atchison; Great Grandchildren: Evrinn R. Worlds, Koronn L. Cherry, Remeir J. Harris, Blade R. Bohot, Breyhia L. Harris and Isabella T. Harris; Brothers: John W. (wife) Barbara Atchison; Sisters: Norma J. Atchison and Nora L. (husband) Martin Jackson; As well as an uncle, aunts, a host of nephews, nieces, friends and classmates.
