Janice Faye Smith

January 29, 1943 — January 17, 2019

Springfield

Janice Faye Smith, age 75, daughter of Roy and Edith Daniels, was born on January 29, 1943 in Crocker, Missouri. She passed away after a long illness on January 17, 2019 at Elfindale Manor in Springfield, Missouri.

Janice is preceded in death by her husband Royce, first infant child, her parents, and two older brothers, Roy Jr. and Wayne, and two older sisters, Betty Jean and Shirley.

She is survived by her daughters Lynne, Melissa, and Heather of Springfield, sons Shaun and Dan of Springfield, sister Pat of Escondido, California, brother Bob of Lebanon, and numerous beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Janice grew up in Roby, Missouri and graduated from Houston High School in 1960.

She married her high school sweetheart, Royce, on December 27, 1960 and to this union three daughters and two sons were born.

Janice accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior when she was 10 years old at Roby Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and served Him faithfully all of her life. She passed that heritage along to her family and countless others. Her love for the Lord led her to love the people around her in a sacrificial way.

Janice had many interests and talents including singing, playing the piano, painting, architecture, and teaching. Janice used the talents given to her in the Lord’s service in various ways to bring glory to the name of Jesus. She carried this attitude of serving into her home. She loved her husband and children through thick and thin and modeled the love of Jesus in an imperfect world. The love of Jesus consistently applied is difficult to resist and continues to impact her family pointing them to the One who alone can fill the God shaped void each of us have in our lives.

Janice developed Alzheimer’s disease later in life, and was unable to continue ministering in the same way as before. But she never lost the ability to love her family and the people around her. That became her ministry as the disease took her ability to make a difference in other ways.

Today she stands before her Savior completely healed and entering into the joy of her Lord as a servant who was faithful to the end with what God entrusted to her. And the life she lived continues to impact those whose lives intersected with hers. May God continue to be glorified by the life of our dear Mama.
