Joan graduated high school at Valley R-6 in Caledonia Missouri with the class of 1966. She continued her education at RTI in Rolla Missouri, she learned computer publishing which led her to publish a book of country sermons of her father J.R. Ivie as well as cookbooks that were shared with many congregations and individuals.

She followed her father in his ministry through various churches across Missouri starting with Caledonia Assembly of God in 1961 and continuing the ministry through many churches and congregations which finally led to Houston Missouri in 1979. She faithfully attended North Side Baptist Church for many years before her health took a toll and she was no longer able to attend. For 30 plus years she traveled and sang with Rose and Glenda, they were known as The Ivie Sisters, which she always looked forward to the next singing.

Joan’s working years were spent as a secretary for the Assembly of God headquarters in Springfield Missouri, various positions with Brown Shoe Company in Potosi and later in Houston, Secretary to the director of Voc Rehab at RTI in Rolla Missouri, she then went to help family at House of Ivie hair styling in O’Fallon Missouri after which she retired to her home in Houston where she helped family with childcare until she became too ill.

She loved all of her family and throughout her years had many life adventures which included three trips to Israel which she held near to her heart as well as countless trips with the family she cared so much for.

Joan impacted more lives in her short 76 years than even she knew and will be missed by many.
