John Joseph Fischer was born on March 12, 1938, in St. Mary’s, Kansas, to Leo Fischer and Cornelia (Trude) Fischer. He passed away March 26, 2026, at The Maples care center in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 88.
John was raised in Perry, Kansas, where he attended school and graduated from high school. He proudly served his country in the Kansas National Guard for 12 years.
John was united in marriage to Joyce Coble, and to this union one daughter was born, Lisa Venable.
He worked on family farms from a young age and later began working at Dunbar Excavating after school. In time, John went into business for himself and spent his life doing excavation work. He installed Rural Water District #4 in Vinland, Kansas, and maintained it for over 20 years. He also owned a gas station in Baldwin City, Kansas, and farmed in Overbrook and Garnett, Kansas. He also lived in Richland, Kansas for a time.
John later moved to Marshfield, Missouri, in 2019, where he made his home with his daughter and son-in-law until his passing.
He enjoyed being outdoors, especially working on the farm and operating a backhoe.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Venable and husband Tommy; his grandson, Timmy Randell; as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Fischer; his mother, Cornelia Fischer; and his sister, Mary Jo Fischer.
John will be remembered as a hardworking man who spent his life doing what he knew best and providing for his family. He enjoyed being outdoors and staying busy, and he took pride in the work he did. The memories he leaves behind will be held onto by those who knew and loved him. He will be missed and fondly remembered.
