Juanita Elsie Mae Stewart, nee Newby, of Summersville, MO, died on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, MO. She had attained the age of 87 years, 5 months, 15 days. She was born on November 6, 1930 in rural Summersville, Shannon County, MO, daughter of George W. Newby and Lona Lee Medlock Newby. She graduated from Summersville High School. She was united in marriage to Paul Amos Stewart on June 21, 1947 in Fulton County, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1981. Her life companion was Ray Norin, who preceded her in death on June 27, 2001.
Juanita had an interesting career, having worked as a retail assistant manager at the Edwardsville Bargain Center, Trust Clerk at First National Bank of St. Louis, and Cook at SIU-Edwardsville and Red Apple Inn near Greers Ferry, Arkansas. Her favorite job was working as Trail Boss on the mule rides at Cross Country Trail Rides at Eminence, MO for 21 years, retiring at age 74.
Left to mourn her passing are her sisters, Mary Heiney and Evelyn Tyler; daughters, Yvonne (Gary) Edwards of Amity, AR; Vickie (Tom) Sawyer of Prescott, AZ; Paula (Ron) Hackstadt of Okawville, IL; Jeanne (Steve) Johnson of Johns Creek, GA; and step-sons Jerry (Sharon) Norin, Dick Norin, Denny (Cindy) Norin; 18 grandchildren Pamela (Howard) Shelby of High Point, NC; Paul Edwards and special friend Stephanie Long of Glenwood, AR; Bill (Nichole) Moseley of Berwyn, IL; Andy (Larnell) Sawyer of Prescott, AZ; Valerie (Ryan) Sharpe of Champaign, IL; Laura (Paul) Cleary of Okawville, IL; Stephanie Johnson of Atlanta, GA, Katherine (Jeff) Goodhand of Steamboat Springs, CO, Brian (Jin) Johnson of Johns Creek, GA, and Justin Johnson of Steamboat Springs, CO; Kevan (Barb) Norin, Erik Norin, Karen (Stuart) Hanson, Mike (Erin) Norin, Tony Norin, Liz (Paul) Whalley , Laurie (Roger) Teubert, Stacy (Jesse) Peters, 21 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Arthur Heiney; brother-in-law and sister Dan and Irene (Kirkman) Lower; brother and sister-in-law Laurel and Bernice Newby, brother-in-law Benny Tyler; her father- and mother-in-law Oscar and Bessie Day Stewart, Stewart brothers- and sisters-in-law: Dewayne and Ethel (Stewart) Farrow, Ervin Stewart, Elmer and Pearl Stewart, Everett and Geraldine Stewart, James “Bud” Stewart, Glen and Vergie (Stewart) Atchison, Bert and Velma (Stewart) Kirkman, and Donald Stewart, and step-son Stan Norin.
