Lemuel Harrison Kitchens was born June 23, 1930 in Oak Creek, Colorado to Richard and Myrtle (Fiske) Kitchens. He passed away January 31, 2022 at Mountain View Healthcare in Mountain View, Missouri at the age of 91.
Lem was previously married and to that union 5 children were born, Debbie, Gail, Christina, Lem Jr. and Viola. He was united in marriage to Barbara Hague on November 17, 1979 and they enjoyed over 42 years together.
He was baptized at a young age and attended the Summersville Christian Church as long as his health permitted.
Lem served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
When he was younger he worked in the log woods then went on to drive a truck for many years before becoming disabled in 1982. Lem was very well known for his artistic abilities. He made many masterpieces out of leather including several saddles. He was also wonderful with oil paintings and in his younger years he loved to play the guitar and sing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Myrtle Kitchens; 3 children, Debbie, Gail and Lem Jr. as well as 4 siblings, Iva, Willett, Roberta and John.
Lem is survived by his wife Barbara of the home in Summersville; daughters, Christina Moss and husband Shawn of Rock Hill, South Carolina and Viola Miller of Grand Junction, Colorado; a brother, Milton Kitchens and wife Mayette of Grand Junction, Colorado as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; many cousins, and other family members. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
