Lucille Sullivan was the daughter of Luther and “Lizzie” Laura (Holland) Sullivan. Born February 7, 1930 and went to her Lord March 7, 2019 making her age 89 years 1 month.
She was married to James Howard “Shorty” Denton August 7, 1948 making their union together 46 years and 9 months before his death April 3, 1995. To this union 4 children were born: Marla Kay, Lenual Lee “Buck”, Jimmy Ray and Timmy Joe.
She accepted Christ as her Saviour at an early age. She has been a member of the Summersville Church of God of Prophecy since 1966 and attended Church as long as she could.
She taught school at Round Valley, worked at Angelica Factories at Summersville, Mtn. View and Eminence. She was a Lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed working at the “Open Door” where she dressed dolls for Christmas about 18 years.
Most of all she enjoyed being a mother, grandmother and friend to everyone. She made all her grandchildren quilt tops plus all the extras.
Lucille loved flowers, one of her sayings was “a yard without flowers is like a house with no curtains!”
Proceeding her in death are her parents Luther and Lizzie, her husband Shorty, daughter-in-law Debby and grandson Greg. Her siblings and their spouses: Sisters - Ada and (Homer) Scott, Ruby (David) Connolly, Ida Mae (Dee) Maggard, Marie (Norman) Powell, Geraldean (Lawrence) Hogan, Wilma (Don) Smith, Nedria Fiske, Pauline (infant); Brothers – Elmer (Joyce, Lavern, Margaret) Delmar (Lillian) Delbert, Ernest (infant). In-laws Wint and Rilla Denton, Pauline (Paul) Butts, Harold (Yvonne) Denton, David (Juanita) Denton.
She is survived by her four children: Marla Kay Denton, Lenual “Buck” (Ann) Denton, Jimmy (Beverly) Denton, Timmy (Terri) Denton; 11 grandchildren Christina (Raymond) Pruett, Kimberly Woodson, Shelly Denton, Bobby (Jeannie) Denton, Christian Denton, James and Shayla Denton, Austin (fiance Sarah) Denton, Jesse and Terra Denton, Brittany (Michael) Cullen. 21 great grandchildren, Marque, Tabbatha, Samantha, Isaiah, Zachary, Eric, Emmalee, Evan, Ellyssa, Eran, Noah, Raegen, Allie, Cody, Caden, Brentley, Evelyn Rose, Jaxon, Noah, Weston and Dallas. 4 great great grandchildren, Roger, Farah, Asher and Cole. Also Two very “Special Sisters” Dorothy Sullivan and Judith Weston; Brother-in-law Thomas Fiske and lots of nieces, nephews and friends.
