November 10, 1930 — September 3, 2022

Mountain View

Lura Ray “Tootsie” McVicker, the daughter of John Albert and Bertha “Marie” (Hall) Nolte, was born November 10, 1930 at West Plains, Missouri.  She passed away September 3, 2022 at Mountain View Healthcare in Mountain View, Missouri at the age of 91.

Tootsie and William Carl (Will) McVicker were married June 16, 1949 at Salem, Arkansas and to their union three children were born, daughter Sue, son Billy and an infant son, Carl Dee.

She was a very active and faithful member of the Oakside Church and always helped in any way she was able.  After Oakside closed down she  attended the Arroll Community Church the past couple of years.

Lura took great pride in making a loving home for her family, cooking and keeping house.  She helped in any way she could, often milking 7-8 cows by hand in the early years, allowing Will to load the truck to take pallets to be sold.  Her brothers and sisters-in law had much love for her.  She was a blessing to the family and was faithful in taking care of her mother-in-law Ruth.  She had a loving and caring heart for those in need.  She and Will owned and operated the sawmill, machine shop and grocery store at Pinecrest for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Will McVicker; her parents, John and Marie Nolte; infant son, Carl Dee; grandson, Nathan Shaw McVicker; daughter-in-law, Debbie McVicker; brother, John Nolte, sister Elizabeth McBride and a half brother, Danny Acklin.

Tootsie is survived by her children, Sue Vance and husband Chuck; Billy McVicker; three grandsons, Charles Vance Jr. Matthew McVicker and Adam McVicker and wife Kim; great-grandchildren, Abagail McVicker-Riddle, Charles Vance III, Callie McVicker-Dennison, Devon McVicker-Riddle, Addily McVicker, Kaelyn McVicker and Gunner McVicker; sister-in-law, Hazel Acklin as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
