Lydia Ann Petersheim

April 24, 1935 — September 7, 2020

Summersville

Lydia Ann (Byler) Petersheim was born April 24, 1935, into the home of Andy F. and Lydia (Troyer) Byler in Middlefield, Ohio, and died before dawn Monday, September 7, 2020, surrounded by family at home in Summersville, MO.

Lydia Ann was united in marriage to Jonas R. Petersheim on June 4, 1959. To this union five children were born, Delbert, Joseph, Samuel, Jonas Ray, and Laura.

T he family moved from Ohio to Seymour, Missouri, in 1969, where they raised their family. The separation from her family was not easy for Lydia Ann, especially when their fourth son, Jonas Ray, died of a heart defect at six weeks of age, in their first summer in Missouri. In 1982 Jonas and Lydia Ann moved to Summersville, where they were faithful members of the Summersville Mennonite Church until their deaths.

Grandma was a gentle person who valued relationships and noticed detail. She took an interest in our lives until the very end. She enjoyed quilting and pieced many dalia quilts with Grandpa's help cutting them out. It was hard to see Grandma's abilities steadily declining in the past 10 years especially. We rejoice in the hope we have in Jesus that helped her face the fear of death and has restored her to health and her loved ones gone before.

Lydia Ann was preceded in death by her parents Andy and Lydia, her husband, Jonas, and two sons, Jonas Ray and Joseph Allen, and seven of her nine siblings, Anna, Clara, Albin, Irene, Mary, Lester, and Freeman.

S he leaves behind her children, Delbert Petersheim and wife Rosemary of Cuba, Missouri; daughter-in-law Kathryn Petersheim, wife of the late Joe, of Olathe, Colorado; Sam Petersheim and wife Glenda of Delmar, Delaware; Laura Kauffman and husband Arnold of Summersville, Missouri; one sister, Kathryn, wife of the late William C.Byler; one brother, Andy and wife Sue; two sisters-in-law Sarah, and Ruby; and 25 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
