Paul Grogan

September 9, 1935 — April 21, 2020

Summersville

Denver Paul Grogan, son of Hugh Grogan and Carrie Belle Hart Grogan was born September 9, 1935, at Ellington, MO and went to his heavenly home in Summersville on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, making his age 84 years, 7 months and 12 days.

Paul was united in marriage to Joy Williams on July 16, 1955. To this union three children were born, Sherry Lynn, Wendell Keith and Kerry Paul.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mountain View, MO where he enjoyed meeting with his Sunday School class and listening to messages by Pastor Jeremiah Nichols.

Paul owned and operated the Grogan Lumber & Pallet Mill in Summersville for 25 years where he taught his sons the value of hard work. After selling the pallet business, he drove a truck several years, traveling from California to New York to Texas for Cabool Transport and hauled many loads of sand and gravel for Doss & Harper. After retirement Paul loved raising cattle; he and Joy enjoyed traveling with their Good Sam’s RV club friends to campouts in Missouri and Arkansas and to south Texas where they spent winters with the group. Going to farm auctions buying antiques and “junk” was another activity they enjoyed.

He loved spending time with his family. He considered his son-in-law as another son and his two daughters-in-law as his daughters.

Some of his favorite sayings were, “What’re we gonna do now, Grandpa?” which originated from his youngest grandson and “Where do you want to eat?” If Joy said “Where do YOU want to eat?” he’d say, “I’m driving, you have to choose,” or “I said last time.” He would be pleased to know that his favorite remark, “If it’s not your time,” was fulfilled when it was his time.

He made many friends, both young and old, over the years and spent time with them visiting and solving the problems of the world. He was careful to pay his bills on time and to help his friends and neighbors when help was needed.

Preceding him in death are his father Hugh Grogan, mother Carrie Grogan, father and mother-in-law Jack and Lucille Williams, elder son Keith Grogan, son-in-law James Bradford, sister Perma Ice and James and Lisa Bradford’s infant twin boys, and brother-in-law Gary Williams.

Surviving are, his wife Joy of the home, daughter Sherry Bradford, son Kerry and Shelia Grogan of Summersville, MO, daughter-in-law Robin and Dennis Weaver of Mountain View, MO; grandchildren, Amanda Bradford, Carrie and Ryan Miller, James Lee and Lisa Bradford, Justin Grogan, Ryan and Ashley Grogan and Alana Grogan. Great grandchildren: Chenoa Bradford, Chakori Bradford, Zoe and Jaylee Bradford, Harrison Prewett, Callen and Keely Grogan.
