Rick L. Collins

April 4, 1956 — October 13, 2024

Houston

Rickie Lee Collins was born April 4, 1956 in Springfield, Missouri to Carl Lee and Victoria “Imogene” (Garrett) Collins.  He passed away October 13, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.

Rick was united in marriage to Becky Cole on February 21, 1976 and they were blessed with 3 daughters, Christy, Jennifer and Alesha.

He grew up in the Dykes community and attended Houston Schools graduating with the class of 1974.  Rick worked for Mitchell Construction, Brown Shoe and HD Lee, finally working for Walker Concrete Construction for several years before retiring.

Rick enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors.  Especially coon hunting, rabbit hunting and deer hunting with family and friends.  He loved hunting for mushrooms in the spring.  He always put out a big garden and many hours were spent picking and snapping beans and digging potatoes.  Most of all Rick enjoyed spending time with his family, especially during their weekly Sunday dinners.  He had special nicknames for each of his grandkids, a testament to the close bond he shared with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Imogene Collins and two sisters, Teresa Collins and Carolyn Steffen.

Rick is survived by his wife Becky of the home in Houston; daughters, Christy Collins, Jennifer Willoughby and Eric and Alesha Collins and Joe Williams all of Houston; grandkids, Kayla Drury and Ryan of Raymondville, Sara Willoughby, Bailey Williams, Clayton Williams, Wyatt Willoughby, Breona Shriver and Emma Willoughby all of Houston; great-grandaughters whom he lovingly called “The H Twins” Huntley and Haisley Drury of Raymondville; sister, Lora Mitchell and John of Warsaw; brother Robert Collins and Sheila of Stoutland; his father-in-law, Leroy Cole of Houston and numerous other family members and friends.

Rick will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations in Rick's memory be made to Dykes Cemetery or the American Cancer Society.
