The family respectfully requests donations be made to the Robert DeMitry Jr. Memorial Fund in care of Bradford Funeral Home.

Robert Anthony DeMitry, Jr. is the son of Robert A. DeMitry Sr and Linda DeMitry and his mother, Elizabeth Nemeth. Robert departed his earthly home in Willow Springs, MO on Sunday, October 25th, 2020, making his age 53 years and 22 days old. Upon his passing he was surrounded by a small amount of his family. He is now rejoicing in Heaven with his Heavenly Father and others that have passed before him.

Robert was united in marriage to Amy Jo Sergent on July 11, 2015. He was blessed with a daughter, Robyn DeMitry of Mt. Dora, Florida, before this union. To this marriage Amy brought 8 children: Sasha, Travis, Trent, Tommi, Tony, Levi, Dalton and Harley. From the very beginning, Robert took each and every one of them under his wing without hesitation no matter their age. He treated them no different and loved them like his own.

Robert was a Christian man that loved God. God was the foundation of his home and marriage. Robert loved the Lord first of all. His wife, Amy was the keeper of the stars to him. He loved her more than himself, he stood by her side. He absolutely admired her and showed her so much love and respect. His children and his grandchildren are his world. When his children and grandchildren would gather together he was always joyful to see everyone, although Robert usually ended up asleep with one of his grandchildren in the recliner. It was one of many favorite past times for everyone. Robert took great pride in being a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Robert and his wife were a team. Together they were always willing to help someone, always willing to make a difference.

Not only did Robert love God, his wife and his family, he loved his country. He served some time in the Army. Robert was also a contractor and a farrier. He loved working with his hands whether it was building or fixing something or working with horses. The farm life was a big part of his life. He was always busy doing something, through the blistering heat or the harsh, bitter cold winter months. Doing farm life with his wife and family was his favorite thing to do. Something he would always tell his children while working on the farm is “work smarter, not harder”!

Robert is preceded in death by his Grandparents, Michael and Elizabeth Berta, his brother-in-law, Matthew O’Donnell, also Robert’s mother and father-in-laws James and Ruth Ann Spycher and Reynold “Butch” Sergent.

Left behind to mourn him are his beloved wife Amy; Parents Robert A. DeMitry Sr and Linda DeMitry; mother Elizabeth Nemeth; Sister, Elizabeth O’Donnell and Emily Wasnock; Brother Jonathon (Andrea) DeMitry; Brother-in-laws Gary Sergent, Jeff (Tammy) Sergent, Bryan (Michelle) Sergent, Terry (Heather) Sergent; Sister-in-laws Chantelle (Scott) Callahan, Michelle (Brandon) Creger; children Robyn DeMitry, Sasha (Joseph) Brooks, Travis (Kimberly) Anderson, Trent (Sarah) Anderson, Levi (Courtney) Kaut, Tommi Goodfellow, Tony Goodfellow, Dalton Kaut, Harley Kaut; his many Grandchildren Verronica, Natalie, Joey, Madilyn, Daniel, James, Trent Jr., Raina, Ruth, Kaylyn, Sammie, Josiah, Keagan, Nathan, Chase, Graysen; great-grandchildren Gabrial, Maria and Noah; and many, many other family members and friends whom he loved.

Robert was a reserved person but he was full of advice. When things were tough he’d always tell his wife, “We have to give it to God because God’s got this”. Something else that he told others was “don’t take everything so personally, count to 10 when you’re angry, be patient with everyone and pray about everything.” He firmly believed that the best advice was to lead by example, and that is exactly what he did.
