Sadie Irene (Chilton) Dodson

Sadie Irene (Ledgerwood) Chilton Dodson was born March 14, 1924 at County Line to L.U. and Dorthy (Snider) Ledgerwood.  She passed away December 24, 2022 at Rock Point Nursing Home in Birch Tree, Missouri at the age of 98 years, 9 months and 10 days.

She was united in marriage to Charlie Hayden Chilton on December 26, 1941.  She later married Lester Dodson after Charlie passed away.

Sadie was preceded in death by her parents, L.U. and Dorthy Ledgerwood as well as her step-mother, Omie (Wright) Ledgerwood; her husbands, Charlie Chilton and Lester Dodson; son, William Chilton; son-in-law, Leroy A. Vaughn Jr.; grandsons, Leroy H. Vaughn Sr. and Eddie Joe Smith; a great-granddaughter, Paislee; brothers, Oscar, Edward and wife Evelyn, Leo and wife Irene, Virgil and wife Devette, Tom and Jay; sisters, Sylvia and husband Oscar Smotherman, Wanita and husband Wilford Gall, Mary and a sister-in-law, Bernice; Rodney Cowen, companion of Linda Marr.

She is survived by her daughters, Virginia Vaughn and Linda Marr; grandkids, Sherry Smith, Pamela Brandt and companion Jesse Piechoinski, Billy Joe Brockmeier and wife Sarah, Jeff Chilton and wife Nikki, Tonya Williams and husband Brent; great-grandchildren, Andrew, CJ, Hayden, Jessica, Savannah, Leighton, Charlea, Liam, Bryce, Charlie, Graham, Ashley, TJ and Joe; great-great-grandchildren, Amelia, Kristin, Theo and Hazel; brothers, Bob Ledgerwood and Tim Ledgerwood and wife Nancy and a sister-in-law Diane Ledgerwood as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Sadie loved to sew and was well known for the quilts she made.  She enjoyed making dolls as well. She also liked to spend time tending to her flowers and the garden and though it wasn’t her favorite thing to do, she would always go fishing and camping whenever Charlie wanted to.  Most of all she loved spending time with her family, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
