Sheila Elaine Tyler

Sheila Elaine Tyler, daughter of Fred & Betty Craig Sr., was born on October 23, 1956, in Summersville, Missouri. She passed away peacefully on June 4, 2024, in her home surrounded by her loved ones in Mountain View, Missouri. Sheila was 67 years old.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Sheila was born and raised on her parent's farm in Birch Tree, MO. Sheila was saved at the young age of 11 at First Baptist Church in Birch Tree, MO. Sheila graduated from Mountain View - Birch Tree High School in 1974. During her high school years, she enjoyed cheerleading and drama club. One of her fondest memories was that her daddy was her high school math teacher and driver's education instructor.

Sheila married Michael Maurice Allen on February 10, 1974. They were married for 26 years and to this union four children were born.

Sheila married Charles Floyd Tyler on October 14, 2000. They were married for 23 years and to this union Sheila became a proud stepmother to two sons.

In 1983, she started her banking career at Summersville State Bank in Summersville, Missouri. During Sheila's 32 year banking career she worked her way up from an entry level teller position to a trusted and valued loan officer. She took great pride in knowing that her work helped so many. Sheila enjoyed meeting and creating lasting relationships with her customers and her bank family who also meant the world to her.

Throughout the years Sheila's love of hand embroidery quilts became a work of art that she shared with so many. Over 50 baby quilts were made and the most cherished are those she made for her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She had a  unique vision for each quilt that she created and who it was meant for. Hundreds of hours were spent in the evenings, on weekends, and  during long car rides to bring her vision to life. Sheila's quilts are a legacy of love she left behind for those she deeply cherished.

One of Sheila's favorite pastimes was collecting an assortment of clocks. She loved to find clocks that were unique and had character. She specifically enjoyed hearing the ticking of the clocks in her quiet time as it brought her such peace. She enjoyed sharing this passion with her grandchildren as well. The grandchildren enjoyed showing up to Grandma's house to see what new clocks she had purchased and counting them. The last count being over 100 clocks!

Sheila's love of faith, family, and friends was displayed throughout the years by her many acts of service through quilting and cooking for those she held dear. Her passion for theatre shined through the countless, memorable skits that she had orchestrated during our Christmas gatherings. She lovingly required her grandchildren to participate in these skits and games which resulted in laughter and memories made.

Sheila was a proud wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and beloved friend to many. She was always present and insightful for her loved ones when they needed love, faith and encouragement.

Sheila will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but they can find peace and comfort in knowing that she had an unwavering relationship with Jesus Christ. Sheila's favorite scripture was, "Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations." Deuteronomy 7:9 KJV

She is survived by husband, Charlie; daughter Hope (Michael) Best of Houston, MO; son Chad Allen of Summersville, MO; daughter Lori (Ryan) Holden of Birch Tree, MO; son David (Misty) Allen of West Plains, MO; stepson Christopher Tyler of Imboden, AR; stepson Dillon Tyler of Mountain View, MO; twelve grandchildren: Tyler and Trenton Best; Justin and Emma Allen; Andrew (Madison) Holden; Adryan and Adalyn Holden; Jeremiah and Jasmine Allen, Bransen Myers; Camden and Addyson Tyler; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Best; sister Sonya (Steve) Bock of Cape Girardeau, MO; brother Fred (Julie) Craig of Mountain View, MO; brother Donnie (Beverly) Craig of Birch Tree, MO and nieces and nephews.
