Shirley Pearl Daugherty was born on Friday, November 5, 1937 in Hartshorn, Missouri, to John and Ethel (Bailey) Spencer. She passed away peacefully at her home in Summersville, Missouri, on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ethel Spencer; long time companion, Leonard Blum Sr.; brother, Rex and sister-in-law, Dolly Spencer; brother, Mansel Spencer; sister, Margaret Darlene Hutton; brother-in-law Earl Durnell; son, Rusty Daugherty; grandson, Jesse Blanks; great-granddaughter, Dessa Blanks; great-grandchild, Cory Blanks; great-great grandchild, Ezra Blanks; 2 step-granddaughters Kimberly and Day Lynn Blum.
She is survived by her brother Roy and sister-in-law Patty Spencer of Arvada, Colorado, her sister, Emily Durnell of Cabool Missouri; 2 children, Ricky Daugherty and Ronda Blanks; step-son Leonard Blum Jr (Lenny) and Fur Baby Buddy (dog) all of Summersville Missouri; as well as several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Shirley graduated from Houston High School in 1956. She married Freddy Earl Daugherty and moved to Iowa. During their marriage, they had 3 children: Ricky, Ronda, and Rusty.
She enjoyed CB coffee breaks, barbeques, bowling, ceramics, family gatherings, and being an Avon and Tupperware Dealer.
Shirley worked in several factories. She moved back to Missouri in April 1980 and worked at H.D. Lee Company for 22 years, and later for the Houston Herald for 17 years. She enjoyed working with her colleagues and visiting with family and friends.
She was a member of Eunice Baptist Church.
Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
