Thelma Lola McKee, age 98 of Summersville, passed away Monday, April 8, 2019 at Mtn. View Healthcare. She was born October 7, 1920 in Hartshorn, Missouri, a daughter of Charley and Vena Barton(nee Crabtree).
She was united in marriage to Russell Marion McKee on July 8, 1939. Thelma and Russell raised 4 children and she was called “Granny” by all who knew her.
Thelma worked many years at Angelica Uniform in Summersville and H.D. Lee Co. in Houston.
She loved to garden and can all her produce and share with any one who wanted or needed something. One of her greatest delights was making quilts and she also enjoyed cooking for family gatherings and Church dinners. Thelma loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.
Thelma was a member of Midvale P.H. Church. She spent many years there as a Sunday School teacher to young children whom she loved dearly and they loved her just as much.
In addition to Russell, her husband of 48 years, she was proceeded in death by her parents, Charley and Vena Barton; son, Paul McKee; grandson, Jamie McKee; granddaughter, Rhonda Talley Butterfield; daughter-in-law, Norris McKee; 4 sisters, Marie Goetz, Ola Mae Harmon, Mildred Cook and June Stark; 5 brothers, Virgil, Cecil, James, Ralph and Elmer Barton.
She is survived by a son, Steve(Millie) McKee of Summersville, MO; 2 daughters, Betty(Tony) Bennett of Holts Summit, MO and Judy(Ron) Talley of Foristell, MO; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
