Theresa Anne Rice, age 72, passed away on February 7, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
Theresa was born on August 25, 1953, in Juneau, Alaska, to Ernest Clinton Rice and Patricia Jane McCarten Rice. She grew up in a military family and lived all over the country, an experience that shaped her adaptable spirit and appreciation for people from all walks of life.
She was blessed with two daughters, Sara Sexton and Jessica Derr Nguyen.
Theresa enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially cherished her pets. She loved reading books and taking car rides through the mountains, finding peace and joy in simple moments and scenic views.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her oldest sister, Lynn; and her brother, Steve.
She is survived by one sister, Janice Mahan; her two daughters, Sara Sexton and Jessica Derr Nguyen; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Genevieve, children of Jessica.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
