Tom Fiske

May 23, 1941 — March 14, 2019

Summersville

Thomas Wilson Fiske, Sr was born in Hayden, Colorado on May 23, 1941, to John A. and Roberta Fiske. Tom departed his earthly home on March 14, 2019, making his age 77 years 9 months and 22 days. Upon his passing he was surrounded by his family that he held so dear. He is now rejoicing in heaven with all his loved ones that preceded him.

Tom was united in marriage to Nedria Jean Sullivan on December 26, 1959. To this union 5 children were born; Leanna, Deanna, Rick, Sue, and Tommy. They all enjoyed so many wonderful years as a close family. Tom and Nedria spent 38 years raising their children and running their farm until Nedria’s passing. Tom found love again marrying Cindy Stone Lovett on December 31, 1997, making their union together 21 years. To this marriage Cindy brought 3 children; Terry, Talona, and Kasea. Tom and Cindy loved watching their precious family grow on their family farm in Summersville.

Tom dedicated his life to Christ at a young age and was a dedicated member of the Church of Christ. His heart not only belonged to his Lord, but to his family. His greatest joy was family gatherings; he especially enjoyed the monthly family birthday celebrations. Tom took great pride as his role as parent, grandparent, and great-grandparent. Not only was he the head of his family, he was the heart of his family. Tom was always a positive influence on the lives of his family, since they were his top priority, his advice and wisdom was often sought.

When Tom moved from Colorado to Summersville he provided for his family by working in the logging industry. He took pride in working in the woods with his brothers, sons, son-in-laws, grandsons, nephews, and friends. He was a man that not only worried about his own career, but made sure that his entire family also had jobs. To him it wasn’t about the money, it was about family. Tom also provided for his family by owning and operating his family farm. Many hours were spent in brutal heat and freezing cold milking cows with his girls, sons, and extended family. He particularly enjoyed the summers he spent on his tractor mowing and baling hay. Tom and Cindy also owned and operated Executive Enterprise Trucking Company, employing several people from their community. Tom never said a harsh word to anyone about anything. He was a true hard working family man who was the same each time you saw him.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents John and Roberta; wife Nedria; father-in-law and mothers-in-law Luther and Lizzie Sullivan and Emma Stone; infant grandson Colton; infant great-granddaughter Ricki; brother Johnny; sister Darlene Thacker; and numerous treasured sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife Cindy; 8 children: Leanna (Rick) Bryson, Deanna (Charlie) Summers, Rick (Catherine) Fiske, Sue (Jay) Duncan, Tommy (Stacy) Fiske, Terry (Marci) Lovett, Talona Lovett, and Kasea (Ryan) Ellett; 18 grandchildren: Charlie (Lori) Summers, Sonya (Jeremy) Shelton, Cheyenne (Jared) Richardson, Tanya (Dusty) Smith, Ricky (Jo) Bryson, Markita Bryson, Hayle and Destiny Lovett, Shae and Kala Lovett, Justice Perkins, Tayla and Tristan Duncan, Abby Woolsey, Delani and Carter Ellett, Easton and Dakota Fiske; 15 great-grandchildren: Skyler, Hayden, and Charlie Summers, Cannon and Sara Richardson, Sawyer and Hunter Smith, Paislee Duncan, Destny, Daisy, Shawna, Jo’Lea and Justus Bryson, Nedriaona Shelton, Xavier and Emery Burch; brothers: Don (Helen) Fiske, Gene (Bev) Fiske, Jim (Pam) Fiske; sister-in-laws Dorothy Sullivan and Jeannie Fiske; brother-in-laws: Mark, Roy and Lester Stone, and Steve Thacker; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

The greatest and most treasured advice that Tom regularly gave his family was: “If you can’t say nothin’ nice, don’t say nothin’ at all.” Tom not only spoke those words, he lived by them, affirming his character and the beloved family man that he was. He will be forever missed by all the people that he shared his beautiful life with.
