Wanda Nadine Barton

December 10, 1928 — March 10, 2021

Hartshorn

Wanda Nadine (German) Barton was born December 10, 1928 to Albert and Laura (Mullins) German in Ink, Missouri.  Wanda entered into eternal peace on March 10, 2021 at Mtn. View Health Care making her age 92 years, 2 months and 5 days.

Wanda married Virgil Lavern Barton on February 21, 1948.  To this union 4 children were born, Soundra Kay, Delbert, Deloris and Wilbert.  Wanda and Virgil ran a dairy farm until they moved to St. Louis where Virgil worked as a carpenter.  They moved back to Hartshorn and made it their home.

Wanda was a homemaker who loved her family dearly.  She worked for a time at Angelica.  Wanda was a quiet person who was often found sitting quietly.  She had a giggle that was infectious.  Her grandchildren loved to spend the night so they could enjoy grandma’s pancakes for breakfast and meal gravy for supper.  Wanda was also known for her delicious oatmeal cake.

After Wanda’s husband passed, she learned to drive and passed her driving tests.  She loved to yard sale and go square dancing.  She loved family gatherings and barbecues. Wanda was raised in the Assembly of God Church and assured her family that she was ready to go to Heaven.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Laura German; daughters, Soundra Kay Reese and Deloris Barton; son-in-law, Donald “Dee” Shoults; daughter-in-law, Linda Barton; sister, Pauline Toulkie; brothers, Everett and Norman German; infant grandson Eric and infant great-grandson Eric Meyers.

Wanda is survived by her two sons, Delbert Barton and Wilbert (Judy) Barton; sister, Wilma Wilcox; grandchildren, Darren (Norma) Shoults, Linda (Chris) Higgins, Jeff (Courtney) Barton, Regina Barton, Lori (Charlie) Summers, Joe (Jaylyn) Meyers, Vena Meyers, Jeff (Sarah) Meyers, Betsy (Justin) Brashers, Christina (Brian) Jenkins and Nicole (Nathan) Brawley; 25 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great granddaughters as well as a host of other loved ones.  Our loss is Heaven’s gain.
