William Murl Johnson

William Murl Johnson was born April 6, 1929 at Antioch, Arkansas to William Otis Johnson and Mollie Rachel Benton and went to his heavenly home Sunday morning October 9, 2016 while a resident at NHC Healthcare making his age 87 years 6 months 3 days.

He was united in marriage to Edna Mae Johnson on November 3, 1948 at Piggot, Arkansas making their union 62 years. They were blessed with two children, Linda and Terry Darle.

Murl worked as a carpenter and millwright for H.B. Deal Construction Co. and was also a self employed grain farmer. Murl attended Hilltop Holiness in Willow Springs and when his family moved to West Plains he attended Calvary Church as long as his health permitted.

Murl is preceded in death by his two children: Linda Payne and Terry Johnson; two grandchildren: Jeremy Darle and Suzette Johnson; his parents: William Otis and Mollie Rachel; his brother: Leonard (LJ) Johnson; 2 sisters: Ruth Baker and Hazel Robinson.

He is survived by his grandchildren: Michelle Long and husband Gary of Moody, MO, Clayton Payne of West Plains, MO, Chris Johnson and wife Heather of Norwood, MO; great grandchildren: Shane, Jordan, Hanna, Blake Varnell, Bethany and Caleb Johnson and Brittany and Austin Cox; 2 sisters: Catherine Jones of Cahokia, IL and Shelby Jean Mansur of Little Rock, AR; and a host of nieces and nephews and other family members.
